Earlier in the summer we reported on an article from CDLlife.com:
‘According to CDLLife.com, which is apparently the bible for over the road truckers, “seventy-seven percent of truck drivers say they will refuse to deliver freight to cities with defunded police departments.”
(CDLLife.com) Truck driving is historically ranked as one of the most dangerous jobs in the country. In 2018, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistic reported truck driving as the most deadly job in the country.
Truck drivers have been voicing their concerns on the CDLLife App. After reading about their concerns, CDLLife posted a poll on the app.
We asked drivers on the app, “Would you pick up/deliver to cities with defunded or disbanded police departments? Why or why not?”
As of June 13, 2020, we’ve had over 1,283 respondents and 79% say they will refuse loads to cities with disbanded or defunded police departments.
“This is not an area you need to act fearless and think you’d look like a fool for saying no…Imagine what kind of fool you look like for driving into a hotspot and putting your life in danger.” – Anonymous Respondent’
Well, apparently the ‘anonymous respondent’ was not bluffing, and/or not alone in their assessment.
Now the owner of JKC Trucking, Mike Kucharski, is telling Fox News that his company will not be sending trucks to areas where the police are defunded. His rational is hard to argue with: “our first priority is our drivers and their safety.”
“We decided to take this step for multiple reasons. Number one is that Our first priority is to support our drivers and their safety when they are on the road. Defunding the police is a bad idea because when you’re on the road for weeks or days at a time driving 11 hours with valuable cargo, everybody wants to steal this. When you’re a truck driver for long enough on the road there’s no safe place. Violence is everywhere so if you’re going to be having valuable cargo and no police to rely on who’s going to protect our drivers?
There is an obvious second layer to what the trucking company owner stated, the value of the cargo. In collapsing cities with now law enforcement, trucks, and the merchandise they carry will be vulnerable to piracy from, well, anyone with enough men and or weapons.
“Another issue that I am seeing in the future is I have cargo insurance, liability insurance, fiscal damage insurance, and I am very curious how when I renew my contracts at the end of the year, if there is going to be language — if I am going to even have coverage going into these places,” Kucharski said.
“Right now I have coverage going all over domestically. You have to get special coverage for Canada or Mexico or you might have to buy special riders for this on top of everything.”
This is not the first place in the Western World to deal with this type of stuff. This has already been happening in the Europe:
I can get behind having a discussion about changing the way we train our police. However, the idea that we would defund them and replace them with social workers and whatever else the left REALLY has in mind, is asinine.
Am I the only one who thinks this whole defund the police movement is going to end up leading to a crime crisis?
Once the crime is out of control, the left will then move to implement some sort of politically motivated ‘brown shirt’ styled authority to crush dissent and uprisings against their failed, totalitarian, regimes.
I know this sounds hard to believe now, but if you look at communist and fascist revolutions throughout history, the corruption of law enforcement for the gain of the party has been a staple.
The good news is that in America most businesses (outside of the Fortune 500 globalists) are run by people who value the American experience and our rich history of liberty. Running this country into the mountain will not be as easy as it was in other parts of the world.
