OPINION| Is it just me, or is this whole ‘the world is going to end … buy toilet paper at once’ hysteria getting out of control?
I’m not going to minimize the impact of Coronavirus on the elderly or infirm, but it seems to me, from what I’ve read, that people under 50, who are in decent physical condition, are not at a huge risk.
Business Insider reported:
‘A recent study from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention showed that the virus most seriously affected older people with preexisting health problems. About 80% of coronavirus cases are mild, the research showed.
The study collected data from more than 44,000 confirmed patients in China through February 11. It offers one of broadest depictions of how COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, operates in humans.
The data suggests a person’s chances of dying from the disease increase with age. Here’s the death rate for each age bracket, according to the study:
The study did not report any deaths in children younger than 10, who represented less than 1% of the patients.’
It should be noted that these numbers were supplied by the Chinese Center For Disease Control and Prevention … so I am not sure just how much we can trust them … or anything that comes out of Communist China … like the Wuhan Coronavirus, for one.
Nationally, the National Guard is reportedly training soldiers how to respond to a Coronavirus pandemic.
According to The Gateway Pundit:
As of Saturday at 4:00 PM Eastern:
** There have been 2,499 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the US.
** There have been 55 deaths blamed on the coronavirus.
** There have been 36 million cases of seasonal flu.
** There have been 22,000 deaths blamed on seasonal flu.
And Democrats and the media are hoarding food and toilet paper and talking about Martial Law!
The Military Times reported:
Around 400 National Guard personnel have been activated across six states to support operations to stem the spread of novel coronavirus, the National Guard Bureau said in a press release.
The governors of Florida, Iowa, Louisiana, New York, Rhode Island and Washington have all activated components of their Army and Air National Guard. Guardsmen in California and Maryland are also expected to join their states’ efforts today.
“The National Guard is fully involved at the local, state, and federal level in the planning and execution of the nation’s response to COVID-19,” a National Guard Bureau spokesperson said in the release. “In times of emergency, the National Guard Bureau serves as a federal coordinating agency should a state require assistance from the National Guard of another state.”
“At the national level, Guard members are training personnel on COVID-19 response, identifying and preparing National Guard facilities for use as isolation housing, and compiling state medical supply inventories,” the release continued. “National Guard personnel will provide assistance to the states that include logistical support, disinfection/cleaning, activate/conduct transportation of medical personnel, call center support, and meal delivery.”
What do you think?
Is this comforting or do you think we are going overboard here?
