Opinion| Mark Sidney| I have to admit, out of the box I was a proponent of a long and drawn out trial for Trump in the Senate.
My position came from the flawed premise that because the Republicans controlled the Senate and they could be counted on to do what was needed to be done in order to call the right witnesses so that the truth about what happened in Ukraine between the Bidens, Burisma, and likely many, many, many other Democrats … and likely a bunch of pseudo Republicans as well would finally be revealed.
About a month or so ago I realized I had miscalculated.
The more I thought about it, and the more Lindsey Graham began to reveal himself, the more I came to the conclusion that it would be much easier for the DS to flip a few Republicans who, either did dirt in Ukraine too, or had something in their past that could be leveraged, than it was likely that team Trump would get members of the Marxist death cult to come to the light.
Unfortunately, it is beginning to look like the GOP is in fact going to throw Trump under the bus.
The Gateway Pundit is reporting:
‘Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told Republican Senators on Tuesday he does not have the votes to block senate witnesses.
From the article — It appears Collins, Romney, Alexander and Murkowski are the reason McConnell says he doesn’t have the votes to block witnesses.’
So here is the thing. I am all for witnesses, let’s call all the witnesses.
Let’s call John, ‘I never met a war I did not want to send your kids to die in for my cooperate pals’ Bolton to testify. Let’s call Lev Parnas …
BUT, let’s also call Hunter Biden, Joe Biden, the Burisma board members, Viktor Shokin, Zelensky, Congressman Stockton … the so called ‘Whistleblower’ etc … oh, and Adam Schiff.
You can bet your ass that this will not happen. Why? My guess is that there are likely many Republicans who are at least tangentially involved in the Ukrainian corruption and want to see Trump out of the way so the Washington DC theft machine can kick back into high gear.
WSJ reports: McConnell says Republican leaders don't currently have enough votes to block impeachment witnesses.https://t.co/15G9nXt4ZX

However, some of those on the left hand side of the news media claim that McConnell’s statement is not true. Politico and NBC are claiming that the GOP Senate leader does in fact have the votes need to block wittinesses, claims Jennifer Hayden:
Politico and NBC say McConnell has the votes.
WSJ says he does not. https://t.co/dAXmUXB6mz

If Mitch McConnell wins another term the nation is going to be headed for ruin. We who have been voting Republican have no one else to blame but ourselves for the mess we are in. In my estimation there may be a dozen or two honest people in the legislature, as far as I can tell the rest are just there to pad their bank accounts. We let too many DS hacks into the government from our own party.
I pray that Trump can weather this storm and then has the guts to do what may be done.
Either we clean out Washington now, or this nation is headed for some pretty dark time.
