OP ED| It seems that the left has found a new tactic.
Well, it’s not new historically … insert images of Hitler Youth here, but it feel relatively new to American politics. While children have always been used as props in politics, having a young person be the one to deliver your message all on their own seems to be a relatively new phenomenon.
First it was David Hogg and the Parkland victims, the ones who would sign on to gun control at least. Kyle Kashuv did not seem to get much airtime or love from the left. I’m sure it had nothing to do with his support of the second amendment.
Now the leading proponent of a radical take over, and central consolidation of the economic system, presumably globally is a Swedish teenager, who, in my opinion, does not appear a day over 12 years old.
The point of this tact seems clear, who in the right mind could criticise a child or what they believe to be true?
So far it has not worked. However, when the left, or the media, can not win in the arena of ideas, they resort to banning and exclusion.
It has been announced by Fox News that they will not be inviting guest Michael Knowles back to speak on their network after the host of The Daily Wire’s “The Michael Knowles Show” host called 16-year-old Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg “mentally ill” this past Monday evening.
According to the Washington Examiner, “Knowles, who hosts The Michael Knowles Show for the Daily Wire, appeared on Fox News for a segment about climate change and Thunberg’s activism. He was accompanied on the show by Chris Hahn, a former aide to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who took exception to Knowles’ characterization of the teenager. Fox News no longer plans to bring Knowles on the network anymore, a spokesperson for the cable news station confirmed to the Washington Examiner after it was first reported by the Hollywood Reporter.”
“If it were about science it would be led by scientists rather than by politicians and a mentally ill Swedish child, who is being exploited by her parents and by the international Left,” Knowles insisted.
This statement caused Hahn to call him “despicable,” demanding an apology.
Fox News called the guest’s comments about the teenager “disgraceful,” issuing a public apology viewers and Thunberg herself.
The Washington Examiner reports that “Thunberg has been diagnosed with autism, ADHD, and Asperger’s. She has called her condition “a superpower” that allows her to address climate change more effectively.”

More from the Daily Caller:
The Monday night “The Story with Martha MacCallum” panel featured conservative podcaster Michael Knowles matched up against Democratic Party activist and frequent Fox News contributor Chris Hahn. Hahn took immediate and dramatic umbrage at Knowles’ characterization of Thunberg during his commentary about environmentalists’ opposition to eating meat.
“[Meatless diets] increase emissions, the increased energy use, water use, but none of that matters because the climate hysteria movement is not about science,” said Knowles. “If it were about science, it would be led by scientists rather than by politicians and a mentally ill Swedish child who is being exploited by her parents and by the international left. So what you’re seeing is a political movement and a religious movement, and it’s fulfilling religious and political goals of the left, but it isn’t doing that much for science.”
Hahn could be heard scoffing and saying “how dare you” in the background, reacting to Knowles’ comment.
“You’re a grown man and you’re attacking a child,” he said later. “Shame on you.”
“I’m not, I’m attacking the left for exploiting a mentally ill child,” Knowles responded.
“Relax, skinny boy!” said Hahn. “I got this, okay? You’re attacking a child. You’re a grown man. Have some couth, ok, when you’re on television.”
Knowles insisted that he was simply “attacking the left for exploiting a mentally ill child.”
While I would not have chosen those words, Knowles is within his rights to say such a thing, and Fox, within their rights to ‘ban him’. Perhaps someone should alert Fox to the Streisand effect, as surely Knowels’ statement will only get more attention and sympathy now that he is the victim of big media ‘censorship’. After all, Freedom of Speech is about not about protecting the speech you like, that’s easy, it’s about defendinig the speech you hate.
