ICYMI| Opinion| When President Donald Trump came out saying that he wasn’t the biggest fan of the late Arizona Republican Senator John McCain, the mainstream media pounced. Sheriff David. A. Clarke was quick to remind Americans why the liberal left was so infatuated with McCain.
“John McCain’s hands are dirty. He’s a snake,” Clarke wrote in a tweet. “Dems and lib media only like him because he was a RINO.”
“McCain is a RAT B——,” he finished off.

Conservative Tribune explains:
Clarke’s tweet and the establishment media’s virulent defense of McCain came after Trump criticized the late senator earlier this week for sending the dubious Christopher Steele dossier to the FBI in 2016. The bizarre dossier, which some outlets refused to even report, claimed that the Russian government had compromising information on Trump.
“So it was indeed (just proven in court papers) ‘last in his class’ (Annapolis) John McCain that sent the Fake Dossier to the FBI and Media hoping to have it printed BEFORE the Election,” Trump wrote in a tweet. “He & the Dems, working together, failed (as usual). Even the Fake News refused this garbage!”

President Trump has bashed McCain in the past when he refused to cooperate with the Senate’s in their attempt to repeal Obamacare.
“He had far worse ‘stains’ than this, including thumbs down on repeal and replace after years of campaigning to repeal and replace!” the President tweeted.
Spreading the fake and totally discredited Dossier “is unfortunately a very dark stain against John McCain.” Ken Starr, Former Independent Counsel. He had far worse “stains” than this, including thumbs down on repeal and replace after years of campaigning to repeal and replace!

During a Tuesday meeting with Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro, Trump reiterated this sentiment.
“I’m very unhappy that he didn’t repeal and replace Obamacare. … I was never a fan of John McCain and I never will be.”

It’s not a shock that there are RINOs like former Ohio Governor John Kasich and Senator Mitt Romney coming out in defense of McCain’s anti-Trump history.
— John Kasich (@JohnKasich) March 19, 2019
I can’t understand why the President would, once again, disparage a man as exemplary as my friend John McCain: heroic, courageous, patriotic, honorable, self-effacing, self-sacrificing, empathetic, and driven by duty to family, country, and God.
— Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) March 19, 2019
These are the same “Republicans” working with the mainstream media to take down Trump, according to the Conservative Tribune.
The Tribune reports:
RINOs like Romney are continuing the legacy of McCain by flirting with the establishment media and condemning Trump at every opportunity.
But it’s notable that the media didn’t always love McCain. He was painted as a despicable war hawk for years — particularly when he ran against then-presidential candidate Barack Obama — until he found his redemption by criticizing the president.
As Clarke pointed out, McCain is only getting so much love because he aligned himself with the anti-Trump crowd.
If McCain wasn’t a constant thorn in Trump’s side, leftists in the media would have only remembered him for his incessant warmongering.
The establishment’s current obsession with McCain shows that they are willing to oppose Trump at all costs, even if it means defending a late senator with a less-than-stellar track record.
