San Francisco’s woke social justice crowd have targeted 44 of its schools as having inappropriate names…

(Fox News) At least 44 schools in San Francisco could see their names changed, as officials believe some were named after those with potential connections to slavery, genocide and colonization, according to a report on Thursday.

The San Francisco School Names Advisory Committee researched school names and identified certain ones for renaming.

The move comes during a year that has seen statues and monuments of historical figures toppled throughout the U.S., amid a call against racial injustice following the death of George Floyd in police custody back in May.

According to the paper, certain criteria by the committee included: “Anyone directly involved in the colonization of people, those connected to any human rights or environmental abuses, slave owners or participants in enslavement, and known racists and/or white supremacists and/or espoused racist beliefs.”

Some of the schools listed under the proposed name changes included Abraham Lincoln High School, George Washington High School, Roosevelt Middle School, and Jefferson Elementary.

The committee’s recommendation, which is heading to the school board, said the names of Lincoln, Washington, and Jefferson that have connections to connections to slavery, genocide, or oppression, must be changed.

[Opinion]  To the unenlightened conservative inside me this looks like a decision to expunge white American patriots from our history.  Now, before you label me a knuckle-dragging Neanderthal, stop and realize these American heroes all appear on Mt. Rushmore.

They were all great men during the times in which they lived.  Times change and perceptions change.  History isn’t always kind.

Realize that two of the men listed for historical cleansing – Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt – had no involvement of any kind “in the colonization of people, those connected to any human rights or environmental abuses, slave owners or participants in enslavement, and known racists and/or white supremacists and/or espoused racist beliefs.”  … as far as I can tell.

Unless I missed something in history class, it was President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation that led to slaves being freed.

The Emancipation Proclamation, or Proclamation 95, was a presidential proclamation and executive order issued by United States President Abraham Lincoln on September 22, 1862, during the Civil War. The Proclamation read:

That on the first day of January in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, all persons held as slaves within any State, or designated part of a State, the people whereof shall then be in rebellion against the United States shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free; and the executive government of the United States, including the military and naval authority thereof, will recognize and maintain the freedom of such persons, and will do no act or acts to repress such persons, or any of them, in any efforts they may make for their actual freedom.

Within three years slavery inside the United States was abolished in its entirety with the ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment.

So tell me, if not to eradicate a white American hero, why is Lincoln’s name unworthy of recognition?

According to, Roosevelt firmly believed in the words of the Declaration of Independence that all men are created equal though his administration took only a passive, long -term approach to improving civil rights.

Roosevelt’s passivity may be inexcusable to those burning down our cities today, but it was a legitimate policy decision at a time when white America, the predominant demographic, wasn’t yet ready to accept blacks as full equals.

“Politics is the art of the possible, the attainable… the art of the next best.” – Otto von Bismarck

More than a century later when he left office, Barack Obama learned this lesson the hard way with 66% of Americans feeling that race relations had worsened during his two terms as president.

It just isn’t that cut and dried.

  • So tired of these things happening. We HAD a great country before all of this crap started happening. After Barack was president, things went down. Way down, and people became angry! For things that happened in the past ! I say, teach your children to respect. To be kind and love your neighbor. It starts at home and people forget that. Make something of yourself, the right way. Not selling drugs, not stealing, not raping or killing. Take responsibility for yourself and your life. If you are stopped by an officer, listen to them, do not be rude and do not give them a hard time. God says to obey those that have the rule over you. Stop blaming everyone for your problems and do something for yourself. If you want to, then you can.
