OPINION| Lawrence David| Former federal prosecutor Rudy Giuliani was responsible for taking down the “Five Families” of New York. Recently Mr. Giuliani has been working to build President Trump’s defense against Democrats’ charges that he was conspiring with Ukraine.
Following a Senate trial the president was acquitted.
While building the case in defense of President Trump, Mr. Giuliani announced that he uncovered evidence of massive corruption between the Democratic Party and corrupt elements within the Ukrainian government.
To defend against this eventuality, the mainstream media appears to be building a firewall around Hunter Biden in order to prevent further damage to the Washington establishment.
Mr. Giuliani has not been deterred, and U.S. Attorney General William Barr acknowledged on Monday that Mr. Giuliani, one of America’s most recognized corruption investigators, has been giving the Justice Department reams of evidence he collected in Ukraine.
“The DOJ has the obligation to have an open door to anybody who wishes to provide us information that they think is relevant.
“But as I did say to Senator Graham, we have to be very careful with respect to any information coming from Ukraine.
“There are a lot of agendas in Ukraine and crosscurrents.
“We can’t take anything we receive from Ukraine at face value.
“For that reason we have established an intake process in the field so that any information coming in about Ukraine could be carefully scrutinized by the department and its intelligence community partners so we could assess its provenance and its credibility.”
Those who view things through rose-colored glasses will view this as the dam breaking.
But there are five words in Mr. Barr’s statement that presents a reason for skepticism…
“and its intelligence community partners”
It was the intelligence community, working in unison with the Obama administration, that turned into a corrupt cesspool intent on the removal of candidate Trump, president-elect Trump, and later President Trump.
Specifically, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI). Remember, the CIA, FBI, DOJ, ODNI, DNI, etc. all require confirmation from the SSCI.
That’s why Rep. John Ratcliffe, perhaps the most qualified, honest and informed candidate for DNI ever, never even got an up or down vote.
As a protege of Devin Nunes on the House Intelligence Committee, Mr. Ratcliffe simply knows too much. And, he’s too honest.
The protective firewalls – appointments to critical decision-making positions – created by and utilized by corrupt members of Congress at the direction of the Gang of Eight – are everywhere.
The big question is does Barr have the stomach for what’s to come?
