What was originally intended to be a private closed-door meeting in the Oval Office earlier today, turned into a last minute open-press event.
When cameras started being allowed in, things started to get heated. What happened during the meeting at the White House today was nothing short of explosive.
Western Journal explains that the “big takeaway” of today’s meeting is that “if Democrats thought their winning the House would bring the president to heel, they’d better think again. If anything, it looks like it’s brought back the kind of unfiltered fight they faced in the last election.”
When Chuck Schumer called a possible federal shutdown over the construction of the border wall, “The Trump shutdown,” things really started heating up.
Recall back that the left has used this same “tactic” in the past, using the phrase “The Republican shutdown” to talk about a shutdown that the Obama White House had initiated.
Since it worked the first time, Schumer decided that he’d try it again a few years later. This time, however, it didn’t work so well.
Trump isn’t going to handle a “shutdown” lightly.
Trump made no qualms about getting right in Schumer’s face and threatening, “If we don’t get what we want, one way or another, whether it’s through you, through the military, through anything you want to call – I will shut down the government.”
“We disagree,” Schumer answered.
“And I’ll tell you what,” Trump went on. “I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck. Because the people of this country don’t want criminals and people that have lots of problems and drugs pouring into our country.”

Other highlights of the meeting included the President directly calling out Nancy Pelosi’s “precarious position in terms of regaining her position as Speaker of the House.”
President Trump stated, “Nancy’s in a situation where it’s not easy to talk right now”
Pelosi answered, “Please don’t characterize the strength that I bring to this meeting”
Schumer yelled at Trump about the consequences of elections.
He stated, “Elections have consequences, Mr. President.”
Trump answered, “That’s right, and that’s why the country is doing so well.”
