Opinion – Elder Patriot – On May 19th, 2019 decided to be the first Congressional Republican to call for President Trump’s impeachment.
After enduring 24 hours of bashing, Amash doubled down posting a lengthy Twitter rant calling for the president to be impeached:
People who say there were no underlying crimes and therefore the president could not have intended to illegally obstruct the investigation—and therefore cannot be impeached—are resting their argument on several falsehoods:

According to Breitbart News, a new poll conducted by Strategic National, shows Amash is suffering the consequences trailing in his re-election bid garnering only 17% support among likely Republican voters.
In a poll taken in early June, Amash garnered 33% support.
Strategic National, a political consulting and polling firm, has a track record for getting Michigan politics correct. It was the only firm in the nation to correctly call the Michigan victory by President Trump over Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton in 2016.
You can review the poll showing a tie between Clinton and Trump in the final days of the election, here.
After Amash ran his Twitter mouth, a number of candidates attempted to barge through the door that Amash had opened. Only one, however, is unabashedly pro-Trump – state Rep. Jim Lower Lower.
Rep. Lower, who announced his candidacy in May, after Amash revealed his support for impeaching Trump has opened a 10-point lead over Amash… and every other candidate, as well.
The poll has a margin of error of 4.89 percent meaning that Rep. Lower’s lead is outside the margin of error.
Aside from Amash, Rep. Lower also leads three other declared candidates – State Rep. Lynn Afendoulis (17% – tied with Amash), supermarket mogul Pete Meijer (4%), and activist Tom Norton (5%) – all of whom have also been tied to the same Never Trump community as Amash.
Not included in the poll is another potential candidate, Trump supporter and real estate developer Joel Langlois. Langlois has the necessary resources and deep ties to President Trump to give him the advantage in a head-to-head face-off with Rep. Lower.
In the video above, you hear then-candidate Trump praise Langlois for making his DeltaPlex facility available for Trump’s campaign rallies as far back as 2015,
Curious timing: The Strategic National poll was conducted after Donald Trump’s summit with China’s Chairman Xi Jinping. Amash’s financial ties to China were exposed following his call for Trump’s impeachment.
