Cali Gov Newsom Learns The Hard Way … Don’t **** With President Trump

Opinion | President Trump served notice to fatcat politicians that the days of spreading the tax dollars of hard working Americans to enrich their cronies and benefactors is over.

At least that was the message the president sent to California’s Governor Gavin Newsom following the new governor’s announcement that construct of the so-called Bullet Train, intended to connect Los Angeles and San Francisco, was being cancelled.

The project was beset by cost overruns having finally reached an estimated price tag of $77 Billion prior to its cancellation.  On its face, cost overruns that large should demand an investigation. How many politicians, family members, campaign donors, and otherwise connected individuals stood to gain from this boondoggle?

Deserving just as much scrutiny is where the the project’s initial costs went.  The federal government had advanced $3.5 Billion to California and apparently all they got to show for that enormous sum was a feasibility study?  That alone is such a gross overpayment that it should’ve raised red corruption flags on its own.

The fact that $3.5 Billion is an amount similar to the amount California’s Democratic Congressional delegation refused to appropriate for the building of a wall along our southern border wasn’t lost on President Trump.

That, coupled with the fact that Trump has no shot at winning California’s 55 electoral votes in 2020, made it easy for the president to demand the money be repaid.

While the practice of the federal government efforting to recover money following a breach of contract is unheard of, it’s a way of life in the private sector, as this president well knows.

Before he became president, Trump entered into building contracts across the globe.  The rules are clear everywhere, deliver or pay up.

Now that California’s Governor Newsom has cancelled the project, Trump is demanding that $3.5 Billion – your $3.5 Billion – be returned.

On Tuesday Breitbart reported:

“The Federal Railroad Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation wrote to California’s High-Speed Rail Authority, informing it that it had breached the terms of its contract with the federal government and that $928,620,000 would therefore no longer be available to the project.”

Trump followed that by demanding the remaining $2.5 Billion be returned directly.

This led Governor Newsom to show his misplaced priorities when he declared “This is California’s money.”

No governor, this isn’t California’s money.  This money came from taxpayers located in 49 other states and we have no interest in your problems – problems of your own making.

We want that money back.  Thankfully, we finally have a president who speaks for us.
