Opinion- Elder Patriot – As expected, the narrative engineers in the dinosaur media are ignoring history when they write that President Trump has no right to confront his accuser.
His accuser in this case, happens to be a person who acknowledged in his/her complaint that he/she possesses no actual first-hand knowledge of the complaint he/she made.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who has, in my view, anointed herself as the only authorized leader of the establishment lynch mob, rightly says that the president is not above the law. Hypocritical Pelosi draped herself in the Constitution when she made that declaration.
Laughable man, ha!
What Pelosi conveniently ignores is that neither is the president below the law. Here’s the pertinent passage from the Bill of Rights that applies to all US citizens:
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to… be confronted with the witnesses against him.
It’s called ‘due process’ and it’s usually the first thing to go in a tyranny. However, it’s not usually the President who loses it out of the box.
In Pelosi’s study of the constitution she must’ve missed the Sixth Amendment because it seems to be that she’s trampling nearly every protection laid out by the Constitution’s Framers.
Perhaps Pelosi is concerned that President Trump will ride roughshod over this so-called ‘whistleblower’ who wouldn’t even have qualified as a whistleblower had not an Obama holdover, serving as inspector general for the intelligence community changed the rule governing whistleblowers a few weeks earlier.
That inspector general, is Michael K. Atkinson:
(CTH’s Opinion) Atkinson’s self-interest: Michael K Atkinson was previously the Senior Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General of the National Security Division of the Department of Justice (DOJ-NSD). That makes Atkinson senior legal counsel to John Carlin and Mary McCord who were former heads of the DOJ-NSD in 2016 when the stop Trump operation was underway.
[Irony Reminder: The DOJ-NSD was purposefully under no IG oversight. In 2015 the OIG requested oversight and it was Sally Yates who responded with a lengthy 58 page legal explanation saying, essentially, ‘nope – not allowed.’ (PDF HERE) All of the DOJ is subject to oversight, except the NSD.]
Put another way, Michael Atkinson was the lawyer for the same DOJ-NSD players who: (1) lied to the FISA court (Judge Rosemary Collyer) about the 80% non compliant NSA database abuse using FBI contractors; (2) filed the FISA application against Carter Page; and (3) used FARA violations as tools for political surveillance and political targeting.
Yes, that means Michael Atkinson was Senior Counsel for the DOJ-NSD, at the very epicenter of the political weaponization and FISA abuse…
… Yes, that gives current ICIG Michael Atkinson a strong and corrupt motive to participate with the Schiff/Lawfare impeachment objective.
If Pelosi’s concern is the protection of the whistleblower then she has had a change of heart since her messiah, Barack Obama, left office.
(Breitbart) The Obama administration waged war on whistleblowers during its tenure, reportedly prosecuting at least eight leakers under the Espionage Act – more than under all former presidents combined.
Members of the Obama administration also reportedly retaliated against whistleblowers, namely those linked to the federal government’s gun-walking scandal known as Operation Fast and Furious.
Under orders from Obama, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) apparently targeted whistleblowers for leaking information to journalists. Even more chilling, Obama even attempted to prosecute reporters who received and published the data. (Julian Assange is rotting in a jail cell to this day, thought it is in Europe, the threat of arrest by the US and others kept him hold up in an Embassy for years)
The Washington Times reminds us:
Mr. Obama’s Department of Justice and FBI spied on The Associated Press, secretly wading through their reporters’ phone records, in an effort to chill potential federal whistleblowers. His administration targeted Fox News reporter James Rosen as a criminal co-conspirator under the Espionage Act for simply talking to one of his sources in the State Department and reporting on it.
Where were the calls for impeachment then? There were none because the Republicans in Congress, at least the majority of them, are spineless and part of the swamp.
The next time a Democrat attempts to drape themselves in the Constitution ask them why they’ve spent the entire Trump presidency trashing it and delegitimizing the Framers who wrote it?
As President I have an obligation to end CORRUPTION, even if that means requesting the help of a foreign country or countries. It is done all the time. This has NOTHING to do with politics or a political campaign against the Bidens. This does have to do with their corruption!
