Opinion, This Is Just Our Opinion (and analysis and speculation too)| Thursday evening’s Democratic presidential debate took a personal turn when candidates began to take cheap shots at one another, preying on their own personal vulnerabilities.
In his opening statement, Andrew Yang proposed to give 10 Americans $12,000 a piece, causing his fellow Democrats to break out in laughter.
“It’s original, I’ll give you that,” Pete Buttigieg shot back, laughing.
Opinion: “Original?” In case you have not been paying attention sir, you entire party’s sales pitch is stealing stuff from one group of people and handing it to others in exchange for votes …
Former Vice President Joe Biden took on Elizabeth Warren, stating that “has not said how she would pay for [her health care plan].”
Amy Klobuchar went after the Medicare for All bill that Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren were in favor of. She called on one of Sanders’s favorite lines. She stated that Sanders might have written “the [damn] bill, but I read it.” She went on to explain that the bill would take away private health insurance from Americans.
Pete Buttigieg took on both Warren and Sanders, explaining that Medicare for All “doesn’t trust the American people” to make decisions for themselves.
Biden bashed Sanders’s socialist beliefs, going on to slam his health care plan.
“For a socialist, you’ve got a lot more faith in corporate America than I do,” Biden quipped, calling on Sanders’ claim that companies would “provide partial refunds of health care premiums.”
“You’ve got to defend the fact that 500,000 Americans are going bankrupt,” Sanders answered, accusing the former Vice President of not doing his part in order to ensure universal health care for Americans during his time in the Obama White House.
Castro jabbed at Biden’s age questioning the 76-year-old, “Are you forgetting what you said two minutes ago? Are you forgetting already what you said just two minutes ago? I can’t believe that you said two minutes ago that they had to buy in, and now you’re saying they don’t have to buy in. You’re forgetting that.”
Opinion: Remember when we were called “conspiracy theorists” for suggesting Biden was not all there mentally?
Pepperidge Farm remembers ….
Castro wasn’t done with Biden, however. After Biden gave his answer to a question on deportations during the Obama era saying, “I’m the vice president of the United States,” Castro claimed, “He wants to take credit for Obama’s work, but not answer any questions.”
Democratic candidates didn’t just attack one another. They took the opportunity to slam President Trump.
According to the Daily Caller, “Castro, Beto O’Rourke and Kamala Harris each linked Trump to last month’s mass shooting in El Paso, though the shooter specifically said he wasn’t inspired by Trump.”
“Look, a few weeks ago, a shooter drove 10 hours inspired by this president to kill people who look like me and people who look like my family. White supremacy is a growing threat to this country, and we have to root it out,” Castro stated.
“Obviously [Trump] didn’t pull the trigger, but he certainly been tweeting out the ammunition,” Kamala Harris interjected.
Florida Democrat Beto O’Rourke called the mass shooting a “consequence of [Trump’s] presidency.”
“Do you think people who support President Trump and his immigration policies are racist?” liberal Univision host Jorge Ramos asked.
“Anyone who supports this is supporting racism,” Buttigieg answered.
So too recap, some Democrats want to pay you $12,000 a year to vote for you, others called Biden out on his apparent diminished mental capacity, most ran so far left they fell off the cliff and Beto essentially blamed Trump for mass shootings. It was a train wreck, I would have loved to sit and watch Trump’s reaction to the debacle, IMHO last night could not have gone better for our President.
