Secession Movement Passes Major Hurtle … This Is The Solution!

Last month a joint session of the Idaho Senate and the House heard testimony from residents of Oregon who wish to secede and join Idaho.

Move Oregon’s Border is a Political Action Committee formed in 2019 to explore joining Idaho to remove themselves from the deep blue state and put them in a state with a similar ideology.

Move Oregon’s Border founder Michael McCarter announced the establishment of a 501 c 4, Citizens for Greater Idaho.

The Idaho Press reported:

On Monday, the Move Oregon’s Border for a Greater Idaho organization spoke to a joint House and Senate committee about its desire to have part of Oregon join Idaho. It would make Idaho the third largest state in the country.

This invitation to present to Idaho legislators in an official capacity may have been the movement’s biggest win so far in terms of gaining legitimacy.

Rep. Barbara Ehardt, R-Idaho Falls, was the driving force in making the meeting possible. Ehardt is the chairwoman of the Environment, Energy and Technology Committee. She also gives credit to Sen. Steve Vick, R-Dalton Gardens, her Senate counterpart who serves as chairman of the Senate Resources and Environment Committee, for helping set up the event.

“Why not have the conversation? It’s an intriguing idea. There absolutely are benefits to the idea. It’s not necessarily something that would happen right away.

Oregon, and I dare say Washington and even California, is pushing forward to try to make this happen and get the support for this move. And as Idahoans, I think we should do our part to at least have the conversation,” Ehardt said.

Former Speaker of the Oregon House, Mark Simmons of Elgin, Oregon testified in favor of moving the border.

They described the move as creating a boom in the former Oregon Counties considering the low tax rate of Idaho compared to the high tax, high regulations favoring Portland in Oregon.

The counties making the move would be Baker, Coos, Crook, Curry, Douglas, Gilliam, Grant, Harney, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, Lake, Malheur, Morrow, Sherman, Umatilla, Union, Wallowa, Wheeler, and portions of Wasco, Jefferson, and Deschutes.

The move would add almost 900,000 people to Idaho and would give Idaho possibly 2 more seats in congress while removing two House seats from Oregon.

Yes, this is only counties trying to secede and join another State.  However, if successful the model can be applied to the federal government and we can begin working to take Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and any other Red States who wish to secede from the Marxist regime here in the Us with us …

This could be the start of something amazing!

Would be good for ID & OR both!  ID gains all those taxpayers, OR loses all those pesky dissenters & can freely move ahead with tanking itself in socialism/communism/globalism at will!

Pie in the sky, I'm afraid. What you are forgetting is Art IV Sec 3 of the Constitution. These counties' totally justified efforts are doomed. Both the Oregon legislature and Congress must approve such a separation. AND, Idaho's legislature must also chop off. It's a worthy and understandable objective, but, sadly, unattainable. The only way for these counties to accomplish separation is to successfully push for Oregon to secede from the union, THEN secede from Oregon. Who's to stop them?

Too late, Idaho has already been taken over. It is so sad to see what has happened to my home state.

States don't need the Oregon model to proceed with secession from the United States. That's nuts. Secession is not prohibited in the  Constitution and is, therefore, a residual legal power of the several States. Not rocket science. All it requires is majority support of residents in that State to secede. As for the Oregon counties "seceding" from Oregon and being officially absorbed by Idaho, you need but consult Art IV Sec 3. Such would require consent of both the Oregon and Idaho legislatures AND the US Congress. Not at all likely. Again, not rocket science. Just read the Constitution. Easy read, really.

I wonder if we could do this in Illinois as well, seperate downstate Illinois from Chicago. That would work out great for the entire state.

rather than be helt hostage by the Democrats  I am in favor of dividing into 2 different nations.  Texas had a bill asking people if they wanted to form a new nation this year.  Yes if we can form a nation based on and following THE CONSTITION  which the Democrats no longer want to use.

Seccession is a legitimate right of states. By the way, it is hurdle, not hurtle. You may want to use a spelling checker.

Secession is what we have needed for sometime now. Much like term limits for political office. The communist dems fight these so hard that they must be the right direction for us to proceed.

Be careful what you wish for. Do you not think that China and Russia are not watching with eager anticipation? What happens to our military and it's vast resources? Who gains control of our nuclear weapons? So many questions and remember it's not just about you anymore. Are you ready to wish your parents and or children goodbye? How about good friends of many years that happen to live across the new boundary? Many unanswered questions.

I suggest 2 major coalitions of states - one mostly red and one mostly blue. Laws favorable to most Democrats for the blue coalition and laws favorable to most Republicans the red coalition. Blue states would be West Coast states, NE states, and Great Lakes states. Red states could be the Midwest states, Rocky Mountain states, and SE states. Each state would still govern its domestic affairs and have its national guard. The coalition states will establish the states commonality policies and laws. Federal government would remain with lesser control for domestic affairs, but govern major waterways, coastal defense, interstate commerce & highways, air traffic control, major airports, major ports, and the national militaries. The coalition can set policies and laws for governance like domestic travel, travel to/from other states or coalition, Constitution & Bill of Rights adherence (RE - freedom of speech & gun rights), education, housing, ecosystems not affecting other areas, right to life, welfare, etc. Each state can vote for which coalition it will join and can be re-voted every 4 years. Each state and coalition is self-contained for budget purposes. Federal budget remains and each part of the executive branch has major offices in the coalition states to respect & support that coalitions policies. This is one way so that conservatives are not forced with Leftist policies and vice-versa.  Furthermore, whole states can move to red or blue coalitions. Then the red ports of a state can separate from the blue part. For instance, central California, east Washington, and east Oregon are more red than blue and could separate.
